In 2025, I was photographing a winery in Bulgaria, and while there I found this house. When I entered, I felt as if someone had just left, but at the same time it seemed that nobody had been there for many years. I tried to find signs of time and understand when someone had last been there. The only things I could find were old journals, one of them dated April 2020.

The owners told me that at the beginning of the pandemic, a woman sold the grape plantation and the house for five thousand euros. She left everything inside. They don’t know much more than that, and this made me wonder who she was and what her daily life was like. Did she live alone? Why were there so many beds? Did she pray? When did she leave for the last time? These questions will probably remain in my mind.
