In 2025, I was photographing a winery in Bulgaria, and while there I found this house. When I entered, I felt as if someone had just left, but at the same time it seemed that nobody had been there for many years. I tried to find signs of time and understand when someone had last been there. The only things I could find were old journals, one of them dated April 2020.

The owners told me that at the beginning of the pandemic, a woman sold the grape plantation and the house for five thousand euros. She left everything inside. They don’t know much more than that, and this made me wonder who she was and what her daily life was like. Did she live alone? Why were there so many beds? Did she pray? When did she leave for the last time? These questions will probably remain in my mind.

Em 2025, eu estava fotografando uma vinícola na Bulgária e, enquanto estava lá, encontrei esta casa. Quando entrei, senti como se alguém tivesse acabado de sair, mas, ao mesmo tempo, parecia que ninguém estava ali há muitos anos. Tentei encontrar sinais do tempo e entender quando alguém havia estado ali pela última vez. As únicas coisas que consegui encontrar foram jornais antigos, um deles de abril de 2020.
Os proprietários me disseram que, no início da pandemia, uma mulher vendeu para eles a plantação de uvas e a casa por cinco mil euros. Ela deixou tudo lá dentro. Eles não sabem muito mais do que isso, e isso me fez pensar em quem ela era e como era sua vida cotidiana. Será que ela morava sozinha? Por que havia tantas camas? Ela rezava? Quando foi a última vez que ela saiu de lá? Essas perguntas provavelmente vão permanecer na minha mente.
